The Idler Magazine has long been the reading material of choice for those who want to elevate doing nothing into an art form. Now the team behind it opens an Academy for loafers. Based in Notting Hill, this cafe, bookstore and school is run by chief slackers Tom Hodgkinson and Victoria Hull. Check in for coffee and homemade cakes, peruse the antique books on offer (Plato, Virgil, Austen, Hemingway) or book in for an evening lecture (complete with free wine and nibbles) on such loafer-loving subjects as The Way of the What and The Art of Cloud Collecting. Sometimes it pays to lie down and be counted.
For more info about forthcoming events, see The Idler Academy listing.
