The reason for their absence is now clear: Cornish has been beavering away on his debut feature film, ‘Attack the Block’, which received its world premiere at the South By Southwest film festival in Austin, Texas at the weekend. Drawing on influences from his childhood – mainly a love of schlocky ’80s sci-fi and his home turf of Brixton – the film sees a gang of yoofs tearing up a tower block in order to avert an invasion of freaky space gorillas.
