Lovers of cinematic eccentricity rejoice: Werner Herzog (above, right) is back, and this time he’s taking us caving. In 3D. Time Out spoke to the German legend in advance of his new film, ‘Cave of Forgotten Dreams’, and the result is predictably off-beam, exploring Herzog’s love of prehistory, his take on the new 3D boom and his obsession with strange places and unique people: ‘It’s very hard to make a connection between someone who flies off a ramp on skis and a film in Antarctica and a bear activist and a cave and Death Row,’ Herzog says, referring to his broad range of documentary subjects over the years. ‘But I know, deep inside, these films belong together.
