The latest bar-and-diner from the team behind Polpo and Polpetto opens today. Spuntino serves Big Apple inspired dishes like mac ‘n’ cheese, sliders (meatball in a bun) and a peanut butter and jello ‘sandwich’ – a frozen desert with nutty parfait, raspberry compote and peanut brittle. The shabby chic interior makes Spuntino the coolest kid on this block: uncovered Victorian brick and mosaic walls, rustic tin ceiling tiles, warehouse-style lampshades and heavily-tattoed staff make you feel like you’ve walked into a speakeasy on the Lower East Side. There’s no phone line and reservations aren’t taken, so be prepared to stand in line.

For info, see our Spuntino listing.
