Battersea Square is that little corner of gentility sandwiched between the posh apartments overlooking the Thames and the more dogeared tracts of Battersea proper. Over the years it has been home to a score of short-lived brasseries, but the newly-opened Bennett looks like it’s here to stay. Open all day, its Anglo-French menu and welcoming staff make it the perfect place for avoiding the crush of eateries along Lavender Hill. It’s also houses a shop selling wine, flowers, fruit, veg, bread and cakes (a perfect pit-stop for Mother’s Day).
