Save the St. Aloysius Social Club
Our favourite eclectic Euston venue, the St. Aloysius Social Club under a church off Eversholt Street, is rumoured to be closing for renovation in June. This news pains us. St. Aloysius is a unique, unadulterated retro haven – complete with striped wallpaper, tinsel curtains, cosy bar and booths – all of which may be removed so the church can use the space for seminary preparation classes. The thriving venue is used not only by the local Somerstown community, but also for gigs, dance classes, fairs, discos, flamenco nights and the monthly Wills Moody Jumble Sale and Tapestry club. We shall be sad to see it go.
