With the royal wedding imminent, where’s a good place to raise a glass to Kate and Wills? The Queen’s Head, of course. With at least a score of pubs in London bearing that name you’re never far from one, but our pick is the newly-refurbished gastropub near King’s Cross. It’s a proper pub, but without the pub bores, dodgy snacks and bad lager. Instead, expect excellent food a good atmosphere, plus 3 commemorative real ales – Celebration from Sambrooks, Windsor Knot from Windsor & Eton Brewery (William’s old school town), and Golden Ticket from Spa Fine Ales in Tunbridge Wells.

For info, see Queen’s Head listing.
