Stevan Riley’s ‘Fire in Babylon’ hits cinemas

Posted at 10:20 am, May 18, 2011 in Arts & Entertainment

Stevan Riley’s documentary ‘Fire In Babylon’ hits cinema screens this Friday and explores the highs (and lows) of the The West Indies cricket teams of the 1970s and 1980s; a gang who are credited with being some of the greatest in cricket’s history. But the piece is about more than the sweet sound of leather on willow, highlighting some historical times of unrest across the globe, with apartheid in South Africa, racial disputes in England and civil unrest in the Caribbean. This is one worth seeing: it’s not just cricket.
