Cây Tre is the first east london Vietnamese restaurant to take its chances in Soho. The Old Street original has always been a happy haunt for Hoxton hipsters but the tiny box space and constant queues aren’t always kind on the spirit. The new Dean Street joint is more than double the size and pristine; expectedly, it brings a bit of Shoreditch chic to Soho. The menu is simpler but our critics have enjoyed plates including beefy Hanoi-style pho; grilled aubergine with ground pork; and soft shell crab curry.
