You think Mexican masked wrestlers fake it to make it? Tell that to Blue Demon Jr, a man with biceps like waists and a chest made of iron plates – decorated with scars and welts and free of body hair, of course. On a recent visit to Time Out HQ, the Lucha Libre superstar – in town to promote ‘Lucha Future’ at Roundhouse (June 24-26) – told us: ‘Hey, it’s you Brits who are the fakes. You pretend to be all serious and distant but I saw crowds last time I came to fight here and once you get into the wrestling you go wild.’ Accompanying Mr Blue was another lucha legend, Cassandro, who calls himself ‘the world’s No.1 gay exoctic wrestler’. With a futuristic twist for these latest shows, the wrestlers will be joined by Bostich and Fussible, 2 Tijuana-based DJs from the super-cool Nortec Collective who lace psychedelic techno with brass-heavy norteño rhythms. Burritos and seriously bad behaviour will be served.
