Jazztronica music coming to a venue near you

Posted at 7:00 am, June 22, 2011 in Music & Nightlife

If Bibio’s electronica-soul is your bag then – taking a few easy steps to the left – there are several new jazztronica bands popping up across town that you should check out this week. Two notable nights out include trumpet/FX-led group Splice and Boards Of Canada-meets-dub jazz quartet MA (above) (playing from their brilliant album ‘The Last’) at Vortex Dalston this Friday. Mixing up a more ambient dubstep-styled brew are Circle Traps, featuring 2 members of the Mercury prize-bothering Portico Quartet who appear at Café Oto on June 28 alongside prog synth rockers RocketNumberNine and the dulcet electro ambiance of Inch-Time. And with Portico themselves set to unveil their electro-tinged tunage in August, this is a sound that is fast going overground.

For info, see Splice, MA, Snack Family and Circle Traps, RocketNumberNine, Inch-Time listings.
