Le Salon, 2009 © Hassan Hajjaj V&A ImagesThis Friday evening (6.30-10pm), V&A Museum celebrates West African Independence during the 1960s in Afropolitan, an evening of music, film, photography, art and fashion showcasing those who captured the optimism and sense of new-found freedom of African nations from the 1960s. Have your portrait taken in a West African photo studio, listen to music from South African house music star Spoek Mathambo (below) and work with textile designer Emamoke Ukeleghe to create your own Dutch wax print-inspired scarves. Everything is free; workshop places are first come, first served.

For info, see V&A Friday Late: Afropolitan listing.
