Grannies, Inc. hosts free catwalk shows and charity knitting circle
Founded by Londoner Katie Mowat, Grannies, Inc. sells knitwear made by British grannies. Its ‘Design a Vest’ competition invites knitters of all ages to submit original knitted vest designs; the winning pieces will be showcased at 2 forthcoming catwalk shows. The first takes place this Thursday (7-10pm) inside Brixton’s covered market with post-show party music by United80 (buy supper at any one of the market’s great food stalls); the second is on July 3 (noon-6pm) at London Fields in Hackney with music by Neb, and is followed by a knitting circle for charity; knitters of all levels are invited to take part (take your own needles and wool). Both events are free and open to all.
