London Literature Festival launches at Southbank
The annual London Literary Festival opens at Southbank Centre tonight (to July 14); this year, Gilbert & George make a rare appearance, Ali Smith speaks about Tracey Emin, Lisa Appignanesi and Hanif Kureishi discuss love and – under the ‘Futurology’ strand – Iain Sinclair waxes psychogeographically about the 2012 London Olympics site. The National Treasures strand sees appearances by Michael Morpurgo, Alexander McCall Smith and Philip Pullman, while poetry fans can catch up with Linton Kwesi Johnson and Kate Clanchy.
