Bored of black tie? The Fall of Rome Imperial Ball on July 15 (7pm-4am) is a feast with a difference: themed on the impending fall of the Roman empire, guests are invited to embrace a Julius Caesar dress code and indulge in one last night of hedonism before the barbarians arrive. Tickets cost £75 pp and include welcome drinks (accompanied by harps and flutes) and a Roman-style feast of spit-roast meat plus cheeses, fruits, candies and wine. Spread across the gardens and terraces of Beauberry House, entertainment is provided by fire eaters, musicians, living statues and temple dancers. Make your own way there or book an £8 place on a ‘chariot’ (bus) from Sloane Square.
Fall of Rome Imperial Ball is at Beauberry House, Gallery Road, West Dulwich, SE21 7AB; to book, see fallofrome.co.uk.
