Wine Pantry all-English wine shop opens in Borough Market
Buying English wine can be difficult for the uninitiated and bottles are usually confined to a small range in off licences, if they appear at all. But now the first all-English wine shop has opened next to Borough Market: Wine Pantry is a tiny wedge of a place that manages to cram in a comprehensive selection, with expert advice on hand from owner Julia Stafford. There’s a new by-the-glass dispenser that stores open bottles under argon to ensure freshness – samples are available and you can buy a glass and drink it at an outdoor table. Cheese, cured meats and deli essentials are also on offer; an online shop launches this autumn.
