Shedspace takes over Stratford with karaoke film screenings, fashion swapshop, global café and more

Posted at 1:00 pm, July 20, 2011 in Arts & Entertainment

Local artists and community organisations take over 14 sheds this Sunday (noon-6pm) for Shedspace, a festival in Stratford town centre which offers a mix of art, music, film and fashion. Stations include Swapaholics Ecofabulous Fashion Exchange, Theatre Royal Open Stage, Miniscule Olympics and Five Continents Café. Stratford Picturehouse’s DIY Cinema screens ‘The Gruffalo’ – which is followed by a monster tea party – and Buster Keaton’s silent flick ‘The General’, at which viewers are invited to play an instrument to create live music accompaniment. David LaChapelle’s documentary about LA’s krumping scene, ‘Rize’, is followed by a street dance class whilst ‘Sing-Along-a-Grease!’ ends the show. All sheds are open to everyone of every age, no booking required – just turn up and join in.

For info, see Shedspace listing.
