On July 29-31, Battersea Park plays host to the Foodies Festival – a celebration of all things food. Activities include interactive cookery demos at the ‘Chef’s Theatre’ (with the likes of Murano’s Angela Hartnett or The Ivy’s chef Gary Lee on stage), a pop-up ‘Cook School’, drinks masterclasses, and kids’ cookery masterclasses, plus there will be stalls from over 100 food and drink producers, as well as a bar tent and dedicated area for hot food. If you attend at noon on Friday, you can witness a world record attempt – TV chef Paul Merrett will unveil a giant food art structure: a ploughman’s lunch featuring over 1 tonne of Seriously Strong Cheddar. Between noon and 4pm, the huge edible structure will be dismantled and shared among spectators. Who said there’s no such thing as a free lunch?
