Newsflash: to get a whopping 68% off tickets (that’s £19 instead of £60) for this weekend’s Vintage at Southbank Centre, see Time Out Deals.
There’s plenty happening at Vintage at Southbank Centre this weekend, not least in the way of food. Ticket-holders can head to Skylon for pre-war dining at a civilised afternoon tea with live music and gramophones or a lively cabaret evening. Meanwhile, spaces in Festival Hall host drinks parties according to the decade – think naff cocktails at the ‘70s disco or lager and Wotsits at an ‘80s-themed ‘rave’. Downstairs, the space is divided by a symbolic ‘Watford Gap’, with Northerners invited to chomp on pork scratchings and stew, washed down with real ale, while Southerners are offered pea and ham hock soup accompanied by Pimm’s. Many neighbouring restaurants get in on the vintage act with special menus, fancy dress and old music – YO! Sushi, for instance, screens 1920s Japanese movies.
