Yashin sushi chefs open pop-up Kirin Ichiban Yatai Japanese restaurant
The chefs behind Yashin – one of Time Out’s highest-rated sushi restaurants in London – launch a kushiage restaurant next year. In the meantime, Yasuhiro Mineno and Shinya Ikeda create a week-long pop up in east London this week (3-8 August) to give Londoners a preview of this style of cooking, as part of the Kirin First Cut short film competition. Japanese kushiage consists of deep-fried food on skewers, and is the ideal match with an ice-cold beer. Expect marinated lamb with saikyo miso or pork with Worcester sauce and pickled tomato. Book your tickets via the website and receive a free bottle of Kirin Ichiban beer at the pop-up.
Yatai is at Dray Walk Gallery, The Old Truman Brewery, 91 Brick Lane E1 6QL. Book at kirinfirstcut.co.uk. Also see Yashin listing.
