Rolling Stone writer turned movie director Cameron Crowe lifts the lid on the oddly elusive Seattle band – and we can’t wait to see what he’s uncovered. For this documentary, which gets a limited UK cinema release on Sept 20, Crowe ploughed through 1,200 hours of concert footage and backstage interviews, including classic footage of David Lynch grilling Eddie Vedder. And speaking of Lynch – he’s a right rock groupie these days: first there was ‘Dark Night of the Soul’ with Sparklehorse and Danger Mouse and last week he unleashed his short animated film, ‘I Touch A Red Button Man’, with Interpol’s ‘Lights’ providing the soundtrack. Most recently, his David Lynch Foundation Music label launched a ‘Download for Good’ charity compilation to benefit the Foundation’s commitment to spreading the gospel of transcendental meditation, which includes contributions from Peter Gabriel, Tom Waits, Iggy Pop and Au Revoir Simone amongst others. Peace.
