Anticipation couldn’t be higher for the big screen adaptation of John le Carré’s spy novel ‘Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy’. Featuring the cream of British acting talent (Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, John Hurt, Ciarán Hinds, Tom Hardy, Toby Jones, Mark Strong, Benedict Cumberbatch), the film follows ageing spy George Smiley (Oldman) as he’s pulled out of retirement to locate a Russian mole within the highest echelons of the British Secret Intelligence Service. Judging from the trailer, it would appear that director Tomas Alfredson, best known for Swedish vampire thriller ‘Let the Right One In’, has succeeded in translating the paranoid heart of le Carré ‘s tale of lies, deceit and espionage from page to screen. Look for Oldman, Firth and Hardy to grab a fistful of Oscar and BAFTA nominations next year.
‘Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy’ is released in UK cinemas on September 16.
