London riots: The morning after – London peacefully fights back
As Londoners awoke this morning and attempted to make sense of last night’s events, the clean-up operation was already underway. Groups have been organising themselves through online forums like riotcleanup.co.uk, meeting up across the city in the worst affected areas with cleaning supplies and positive community spirit. So far, people have been out in force in Hackney, Clapham, Croydon and Camden. @Riotcleanup tweeted ‘If they do it again. We do this again tomorrow. Solidarity for our communities. Show them they cannot win.’ Many areas are still cordoned off by the police. Follow the cleanup process on twitter with #riotwombles. Thanks to Richard Reynolds for pic above.
