Thomas Keller, the chef behind three-Michelin starred Californian restaurant, The French Laundry, is bringing his famed eatery to Harrods for 10 days in October (1-10) – bookings open September 1 for the pop-up’s nine-course tasting menu. Diners can expect a ‘faithful’ recreation of the original Napa Valley restaurant, down to the fixtures and signature crockery… but not the price, it seems. At £250 for food alone (Keller’s restaurant charges $270, or roughly £165 for the nine-course tasting menu), the cost can be rather hard to swallow. But for those who have been priced out of Keller’s Laundry, they can try their luck at booking Sabrina Ghayour’s (above) cheekily titled French Launderette Supper Club, to be held at The Chancery restaurant in the City. Open for one night only on 2 October, Ghayour’s supper club will cost 1% of The French Laundry’s menu, at £2.50 per person for four courses inspired by Keller’s signature dishes. We’re also hearing whispers about The English Launderette, but time will tell whether it’s a genuine project or a jokey hoax.
