Word on the Water floating bookshop heads to Camden Lock
High street bookshops may be struggling under the pressure of the recession and competition from online retailers and Kindles, but don’t let that trick you into thinking that the nation has given up on the bound book. Word on the Water narrowboat bookshop is proof that there are still some very passionate bibliophiles out there. This floating literature haven travels around the capital’s canals promoting literacy in different communities and selling well-priced cult classics, as well as books on politics, philosophy, rivers, canals (of course) and kids books. From today it will be moored at Camden Lock (to August 17) so make sure you stop in to support one of the capital’s most buoyant booksellers.
