The Ship in Wandsworth presents The Scotch Egg Challenge

Posted at 12:00 pm, August 18, 2011 in Food & Drink

scotch eggThink you know the perfect scotch egg? Makers and connoisseurs are invited along to join this eggcellent event at the riverside pub on September 20 (from 7.30pm), which crowns one mighty establishment or individual as the king or queen of the humble sausage-egg-breadcrumb combo. The event was originally scheduled for last Tuesday before rioters threw metaphorical rotten eggs all over London; the sunny side is that there are now several more weeks for contenders to perfect recipes. Those interested in submitting the ultimate scotch egg must do so by September 15 to join competitors in the pan such as The Drapers Arms (Islington), The Bull & Last (Highgate) and go-it-aloners Matt Lemon and Supperclub host Nathan Richardson. Judges are a mix of self-proclaimed eggsperts, well-known food bloggers and Mat Follas, Masterchef winner 2009. To keep an eye on developments (or to egg competitors on) check Twitter hashtag #ScotchEggChallenge.
