'Conan the Barbarian', The Alibi Film ClubCreative collective Real Gold’s Alibi bar, situated on Dalston’s Kingsland High Street, has quickly established itself not only as one of East London’s coolest venues for DJs and leftfield music, but also as a meeting place for cult film fans. Every Monday, the venue is commandeered by The Alibi Film Club, a free event where guests enjoy a classic/recent cult feature (past screenings include ‘Total Recall’, ‘Basic Instinct’ and ‘Hobo with a Shotgun’) alongside drinks, games and the occasional Arnie quote-athon. With the former Governator firmly in mind, this Monday’s offering (7-10pm) is a screening of John Milius’s superior original 1982 version of ‘Conan the Barbarian’, featuring Schwarzenegger as everyone’s favourite Crom-loving camel-puncher.
