London Film Festival programme announced: Time Out hosts exclusive screening of ‘We Need to Talk About Kevin’
This morning saw the press launch for the 55th London Film Festival (October 12-27), the biggest event in the capital’s movie-going calendar. Among a wealth of exciting announcements – including new movies from David Cronenberg, Michael Winterbottom, Jonathan Demme, Roman Polanski, Takashi Miike and, um, Madonna – we can finally reveal that this year’s Time Out Gala Screening will be British director Lynne Ramsay’s long-awaited adaptation of Lionel Shriver’s harrowing novel, ‘We Need to Talk About Kevin’ (above). The film has already wowed audiences at festivals worldwide – with particular attention being paid to Tilda Swinton’s astonishing lead performance – and it’s sure to be one of the standout screenings at this year’s LFF. As usual, Time Out will be bringing you exclusive early reviews of as many festival films as we can lay our hands on, so keep an eye on timeout.com/film for ongoing LFF coverage.
