This summer has witnessed an encouraging increase in the number of small, independent film festivals popping up across town. Hackney Film Festival, which runs from today (to Sunday), is another example of networking among local filmmakers and artistic entrepreneurs morphing into a worthwhile talent showcase. Tonight’s opener is more of a get-together for local filmmakers before their wares are aired over the next few days at Café OTO, Rio Cinema and Arcola Tent. The festival closes with another tranche of shorts and a live performance at Dalston Roof Park on Sunday.
