PIAS raises funds for riot-stricken record labels with shindig at Favela

Posted at 7:00 am, September 18, 2011 in Music & Nightlife

pias-eflyerAmong the many victims of the capital’s August riots was the main warehouse of the PIAS distribution group in Enfield, which was destroyed by fire. The group includes many small independent labels (Full Time Hobby, Buzzin’ Fly), for whom life in the current financial climate is a constant battle. Their stock may have been insured, but they’re struggling to stay afloat until their product can be repressed. To that aim, on October 5, Favela in Great Eastern Street hosts a benefit. Organised by producer, musician and DJ Richard Norris, it lines up top decks talents Ashley Beedle, Justin Robertson, Pete Herbert, Nathan Detroit, Ross Allen and Andrew Weatherall, who are all donating their services free. All proceeds go to the AIM (Association of Independent Music) help fund. Book now.

For info, see PIAS Fire Benefit Night listing.
