Standing at 6 ft, with green eyes and razor-sharp cheekbones, it’s fair to say that Dudley O’Shaughnessy gets stopped on the street a lot. But one encounter with a model scout at Old Street tube station 2 years ago proved particularly interesting. ‘I was with my mum, and a woman came up and asked if I was interested in modelling,’ he says. ‘I didn’t really know what it was about at first, but I went to the agency and they signed me up.’ The agency was Next Model Management, who boast the likes of American fashion darling Karlie Kloss, Alice Dellal and Alexa Chung on their books. O’Shaughnessy might be on his way to similar success. Since signing, the 21 year-old from Canning Town has walked in shows for Ozwald Boateng and featured in campaigns for Stone Island. Not that he took to the whole fashion lark straight off. A talented boxer, he was training in the hopes of making Team GB at London 2012 when scouted: modelling seemed a distraction. ‘At first I was really shy and not interested,’ he says. ‘As time went on, I got more into it.’ The transition was made easier for him when he wasn’t selected for the Olympics – making sport’s loss fashion’s gain. A favourite of Fashion East director Lulu Kennedy, and Fashion East’s menswear arm, Man, his career is really forging ahead. ‘He’s so popular with our clients and he gets amazing feedback,’ says booker, Sarah Vickery. ‘We love working with him.’
