The creative talent of offenders, detainees and secure patients is showcased at a pioneering new exhibition at Southbank Centre from today (to November 20). Over 7500 entries were submitted to the 49th annual Koestler Awards and a panel of voluntary magistrates carefully selected the 150 best works to form the exhibition. The awards are judged by leading artists and writers including Jeremy Deller, Grayson Perry, Emma Bridgewater and Jeremy Paxman. The show kicks off with an afternoon of events (1-7pm) including a ‘Judge For Yourself’ debate (6pm) chaired by Jude Kelly (Southbank Centre’s Artistic Director) with speakers including ex-offenders, artists and more.
