New local farmers’ market opens in Brockley

Posted at 1:00 pm, September 23, 2011 in Food & Drink

brockley food marketThe little south-east London neighbourhood of Brockley is finally getting its own proper food market. The weekly Saturday affair features locally-sourced, seasonal produce ranging from fresh fruit and veg to meat, fish and poultry – and the mainstays of any modern-day London marché, namely artisan loaves, stinky cheeses and quality coffee. Tomorrow’s inaugural market day will be a bountiful one, with plenty of Kentish fruit and vegetables, free-range pork from Independent Trotters, Hand Picked Fresh Shellfish Company fruits de mer, cakes, cheeses, local Brockley honey, plus coffee and sourdough doughnuts from local businesses Browns of Brockley and New Cross café London Particular. With 17 producers already on board and more to come (including a stall next month from 2 of south-east London’s best food bloggers), it looks to be a fantastic addition to the area. Keep up to date with happenings via @brockleymarket.
