The English Launderette: a witty, cheap alternative to The French Laundry pop-up restaurant

Posted at 1:00 pm, September 27, 2011 in Food & Drink

English Laundrette pop up restaurantThomas Keller’s cult Californian resto The French Laundry hits Harrods this month (October 1-10), with prices to make one weep – that is, if you can get a table in the first place. For those who don’t have £250 to blow on a meal, a witty retaliation is on offer from the folks behind Rock Lobsta who pop up in Shoreditch with ad hoc supper club English Launderette for 10 days from Saturday. For £49 you get a feast including an aperitif from the Coin Op cocktail bar, British classics such as cheese and pineapple or avocado and prawn cocktail, a re-invented Mixed Grill, a full-on dessert trolley by Lily Vanilli, natural wines and more. They won’t do your washing though. Book now.
