Now in its 24th year, Black History Month is filling October with entertaining and educational events once again. Sit back and enjoy the rich sounds of black pop in Southwark at From Ellington to Reggaeton, or a poignant performance of the true story of Zimbabwe’s troubled history in The Rain That Washes at Chickenshed in Southgate. Visit Shoreditch’s Rich Mix from Thursday 13 (to October 30) to see From Bronze to Gold, an exhibition by leading black artists ‘Fowokan’ George Kelly, Alvin Kofi, Ken McCalla and Eli Anderson, with speeches from the artists and mask-making workshops on Saturday 22nd. On Tuesday 25 (2-4pm) Emamoke Ukeleghe teaches you how to create colourful prints at Hackney Museum. Then test your new knowledge with the Black History Music Quiz (email to book a place).
