Watch ‘Barbarella’ before going to a party that’s out of this world

Barbarella sci-fi screening Jane Fonda BD & Comics Pasion Festival Back in the ’60s, the scantily-clad sci-fi siren Barbarella was all the rage, but we bet even Jane Fonda’s biggest fans didn’t know that the film was adapted from a bande dessinée (comic strip) by Jean-Claude Forrest. See what all the fuss was about at a screening of the film at Institut Français on October 8 (8.40pm) followed by an elaborate Cosmic Party. The fancy dress theme is cosmic cool, with a beauty pageant to crown Mr and Mrs Cosmic and reward them with Absolut Vodka and sets of comic books. With themed visuals, pyrotechnics, make-up artists and space cocktails you can be sure that your evening will enter a new realm of fun. The event is part of BD & Comics Passion Festival starting Friday (to October 9) which promises plenty of cult comic action.
