Not only does this Saturday’s Brixton Academy party (9.30pm-4am) mark 17 years since station founders Geeneus and Slimzee set up a studio in the 18th floor kitchen of a flat on Bow’s Old Ford Road, it’s a hell of a line-up, too. Skream, Artwork and Coki bring the usual dubstep, with the redoubtable P Money the highlight of a crop of grime MCS (although expect DJs Elijah and Skilliam to showcase the genre at its most sonically interesting). But less predictable station additions include Mark Radford’s soulful minimal tech, Floating Points’ mix of funk, house and afro-centric grooves. Plus Numbers’ crew member Jackmaster – whose Scottish roots make him an associate of synth-tronic, video gamey crunk-hop supremos Rustie and Hudson Mohawke – spins electronica to R&B to pardee hop.
