If you’ve not discovered the brand new Society Club bookshop-café and art gallery on Ingestre Place in Soho, then check it out this Friday 21 October (7pm) when Leee Black Childers will drop in for a chat and a glass of wine. Childers was a friend of Warhol and worked as The Factory’s in-house photographer, taking iconic early photos of Bowie, Iggy Pop, the New York Dolls and Patti Smith. He worked for Bowie’s management company, Mainman, and later managed Johnny Thunders and The Heartbreakers during their stint on the Sex Pistols’s Anarchy Tour. His photographs – which cover every stage of his rock’n’rolling career – will be on display at the Society Club and after a short talk he’ll be doing a Q&A. Get there early – once it’s full, and it’s a cosy space, you’ll be left out in the cold. ‘Drag Queens, Rent Boys, Pickpockets, Junkies, Rockstars and Punks’ will run until October 28.
The Society Club, 12 Ingestre Place, Soho.
