As part of the Wellcome Collection’s Recipes and Remedies season, ‘gastronaut’ and TV presenter Stefan Gates (above) will be hosting a rather unusual dinner and talk centering around the question of what the future of food looks – and tastes – like on Wednesday 26 October (7.30-10pm). According to Gates, we could well be on the path towards ever more inventive and oddball dishes that attempt to address the issue of having more and more people in the world to feed while existing resources dwindle. Jellyfish and chips, algae bolognese and synthetic meatballs are just a few unpalatable scenarios Gates will discuss. Tickets cost £25 and includes a two-course dinner (with none of the aforementioned dishes, luckily), two glasses of wine and a coffee.
