Howl's Moving Castle

Stephen Fry – aka king of the internet, lord of Twitter, most shiny of all our national treasures – is lending his voice to an ambitious new play at the Southwark Playhouse (November 28-January 7). The influential fringe theatre’s Christmas production is an adaptation of Diana Wynne Jones’s 1986 fantasy novel ‘Howl’s Moving Castle’, perhaps best know for the Oscar-nominated 2004 animated adaptation by Studio Ghibli. Fry will narrate the tale of a young woman cursed with old age by a vindictive witch. His part will be pre-recorded, but he’s a noted supporter of the Playhouse and odds are that if you book the right performance you’ll find yourself in the presence of the plummy polymath himself.
