With the first bite of Jack Frost in the air, who hasn’t been guilty of already swathing themselves in their most thermal (and least fetching) of night attire; bobbled bed socks, Andy Pandy all-in-one, passion-killer hot water bottle? Well you won’t get away with that kind of lacklustre garb at 40 Winks, the opulent boutique hotel, home to one of London’s longest running and surely most glamorous of storytelling nights. Their Xmas offering of ‘Festive Tales’ on December 7 has already sold out, so raconteur-hunters best dust off their monogrammed silk PJs and most nuzzlable of negliges pretty sharpish, ahead of the next events on November 16/17. Some gender-bending as well as sartorial seduction wouldn’t go amiss in the dressing gown department for the occasion, as yarn-spinners Sally Pomme Clayton and Nell Phoenix tackle the age old Battle of the Sexes. By the time the chill has really set in, the Greek muse will be upon us as guest storyteller Daniel Morden weaves tales to tempt you into the depths of the Underworld, with mythical Orphic charm. It really is the cat’s pyjamas.
