Old Vic 24 Hour Plays

If Jack Bauer made theatre, this is how he’d make it. A crack team of the biggest names in acting, writing and directing assemble in one of London’s oldest and most venerable theatrical venues, to produce six short and snappy plays in a mere 24 hours.

The cast for this year’s fundraising Celebrity Gala on Sunday 13 November features a distinguished line up of performers drawn from across the entertainment spectrum, including Lily Cole, Mackenzie Crook, Mathew Horne, Anthony Head, Freddie Fox, Jane Asher and Ruthie Henshall. Wielding the pens will be playwrights Amy Rosenthal, Jack Thorne, and Roy Williams, whilst the directors putting cast and crew through their rapid paces will be Tom Cairns, Simon Godwin, Tamara Harvey, Josie Rourke and Charlie Westenra. The accelerated production process itself happens behind firmly closed doors, but if you’ve got some cash to flash at a good artistic cause (all the money raised is poured back into maintaining the Old Vic), you can bag yourself a seat. If that’s not enough (or this month’s entertainment budget doesn’t quite stretch- tickets start at £75), try your luck in the Silent Auction and you might just find yourself sharing a stage with Spacey and co. on the night.
