Bed down at Ikea for the night
Ever dreamt you were trapped in IKEA? After some particularly grueling flatpack foraging, we certainly have. Or maybe you’ve actually been close to curling up between the Karlstads, Malms, Ektorps and Vardes, when a certain domestic mission just got too much. Well, now you really can bed down as IKEA Lakeside hosts the inaugural Big IKEA Sleepover on Sunday 27 November (8pm–8am).
That’s a whole 12 hours in the big blue and yellow Swedish wonderland- just think how many mini Dime Bars, hotdogs and Kottbullar meatballs you could manage in that time. But fear not, you won’t actually have to fend for yourself. The first 100 IKEA-lovers to sign up for a bed on Facebook will be greeted with mugs of steaming cocoa and shepherded to the freshly refurbished Bedroom Department. Once in duvet heaven, you’ll be invited to pick’n'mix your preferred furniture configuration before the evening’s soporific entertainment ensues. That may sound like a contradiction in terms, but treats and special guest surprises are promised- we’re thinking lullabies and Jackanory moments from some cuddly crooners, perhaps? Apparently it’s already gone down like, um, an electric blanket and a pint of Horlicks in Australia. PJs not provided. Kirsty McQuire
