Here’s one for anyone who ever got too much of a kick out of heavy-handedly setting off the buzzer in ‘Operation’ as a kid. Performing Medicine’s Anatomy Season, curated by Clod Ensemble, is in full surgical swing at the Wellcome Collection, Sadler’s Wells and the Whitechapel Gallery this autumn. Featuring live art from Sheila Ghelani (above) and legendary performance artist Peggy Shaw, shows, workshops and talks anatomising the anatomical are being staged until December. Especially relevant as the NHS undergoes its most controversial reform, Anatomy Season takes in the spectacle of the early operating theatres, the 19th century’s illicit body snatchers and today’s body fascism where obesity and size zero are the conflicting shape extremes. Be sure to get a foot in the door early for Professor Kneebone’s Incredible Inflatable Pop Up Anatomy Lesson on December 10. Scalpel? Kirsty McQuire
