We all know them, the dance floor divas who seem to have confused Cargo with Britain’s Got Talent, or taken a night in the Jazz Bar to be an audition for a re-run of Soul Train. Well, now there’s a place for them: podium posers, step this way – The Old Truman Brewery is hosting Absolut Blank Live, a sort of high-tech boogie-booth for the statically-challenged. From November 17-27, would be video-stars can choose their own track, karaoke-style, before throwing some shapes against a blue screen, just like in the movies. Virtuoso music video director Saam Farahmand has dreamed up the means for those Dance Mat-honed moves to be transposed into something altogether more stylised: The digital dance-off footage will form the visuals for Jamie XX’s set at Village Underground on December 2.
