Occupy London: silent scream eviction protest

Occupy London Day 3 - 112_0492
The Occupy London protestors camped at St Paul’s Cathedral have been warned by the City of London that they have until 6pm today to leave or face eviction. This morning, we spoke to one of the Occupy organisers, Ronan McNern, who told us the protestors weren’t going anywhere: ‘Rumours have been spreading and people are wondering what’s going on. But the eviction notice is the beginning of a long legal proceeding. There is nothing to worry about. We are remaining here for the foreseeable future,’ said McNern. Occupy London will be organising an event at St Paul’s at 5pm, with speakers including John Cooper QC, who will be talking about the  legal process. He will also be outlining Occupy’s response to the Corporation. At 6pm there will be what organisers are calling a ‘Silent Scream’ to protest the eviction notice. Go and see for yourself what it entails – or join in the screaming. Rebecca Taylor, News Editor
