Picture the scene – it’s 1966, it’s silver, it’s wild, it’s of indeterminate gender- it’s ‘The Factory’. On Friday 25 November, The Strand will be East 47th Street, the Adam Street Private Members’ Club will be Andy Warhol’s studio and all will be fabulous. There will be performance art, Japanese S&M, live music, video art, dancing, beautiful people and maybe the odd phallic banana thrown in. Artifice and narcissism will reign supreme behind dark shades and big hair.
The art will be pop, the love will be free and it’ll be the most happening happening this side of Manhattan. Did we mention it’ll be fabulous? Famous for at least 15 minutes will be: burlesque beauty Banbury Cross, Suri Et Les Copains playing havoc with punk-yé-yé-psych-swing and a whole host of Andy’s Superstars. Channel socialite, super-freak, be Lou or Nico but make sure to ‘Think rich, look poor,’ and you’ll be rewarded with a free shot of vodka on the door.
