War of words at Book Slam

Paul Murray - Fun Wah Man © Book SlamIf you ever doubted that books were still cool, head to the The Tabernacle on Thursday November 24 for the launch of Book Slam’s new night (doors open 6.30pm). This legendary literary club, the joint baby of musician Ben Watt and author Patrick Neate, promises a mix of literature, music, dancing and boozing. This Thursday is also the launch of their ‘One for the Trouble’ anthology, so expect to do some bookish celeb spotting: performances from David Nicholls (‘Starter for Ten’, ‘One Day’), Sophie Woolley (Channel 4’s ‘Cast Offs’), Luke Wright (‘Luke Wright’s Cynical Ballads’) and HowAboutBeth (ex-The Pipettes) suggest it’s going to be a literary feast. Advance tickets are sold out but we hear that there will be some at the box office from 6pm.
