The weekly Maltby Street lock-in takes place at arch 76 (aka the Bea’s of Bloomsbury arch), with food fiends congregating to eat, drink and be merry in the hours after the traders shut up shop. On Saturday 10 December, a special one-off festive feast will take place under the arch. The Trini Christmas event is brought to you by Trinidadian chef Hasan de Four (above) and food writer and journalist Franka Philip of the blog Can Cook, Must Cook, and will feature a generous Caribbean menu and live music. Start with callaloo shots (spiced vegetable soup with coconut milk) and end with boozy rum cake (below); main courses include herb and honey turkey with ackee and sage stuffing, served with (among many other things) stuffed sweet potatoes and stewed pigeon peas. Book now for any of the three sittings between 2pm and 10pm.
