Our normally shy and retiring Gay & Lesbian editor Paul Burston was persuaded to get his kit off for gay glossy magazine Beige. In an interview to promote his gay literary salon, Polari, the shrinking violet is photographed completely naked, with only a finely turned leg and the clever use of lighting to hide his, ahem, modesty.
Photographer Claire Lawrie told Time Out that coaxing Paul out of his trousers took all her powers of persuasion. ‘Paul came to the studio and was a little worried at first about getting naked. But an hour or so later, after a couple of vodkas and a lot of laughs, he finally slipped out of his Calvins and showed off his best side.’
